Walking With The Lamb
{Chorus}
Oh for a closer walk with God,
Calm and serene in His hands,
No purer light shall show the way
That leads me to the Lamb...
When the darkness and shadows fall,
When the storm clouds rise,
I will find comfort in His arms,
Under His watchful eyes...
{Repeat Chorus}
When temptations overcome
My flesh sorely tried,
The strength of God is next to me,
Walking by my side...
{Repeat Chorus}
When death shall finally come to me,
I shall not be afraid,
For Jesus, He will take my hand,
And then my soul will say...
{Final Chorus}
Oh for a closer walk with You,
Calm and serene in Your hands,
No purer light have I ever seen,
I'm walking with the Lamb...

On my birthday several years ago, I received a hand written copy of "O For A Closer Walk With God", an old hymn by William Cowper (1731 - 1800). The words of this song were written in old english and were very beautiful and elegant, "O for a closer walk with God, A calm and heavenly frame, A light to shine upon the road that leads me to the Lamb". Using my favorite parts of his song in the chorus, I picked up my guitar and wrote this song.
